The Texas Chief Deputies Assoiation is sorry to announce that due to golf course conditions, the 1st Annual Abraham Vega Memorial Golf Tournament has been cancelled.
The Texas Chief Deputies Association is pleased to announce the establishment of a scholarship in memory of Lynn County Sheriff Abraham Vega. Sheriff Vega was a long-time member of the Texas Chief Deputies Association, serving on many committees before being elected to the Board of Directors. He served as President of TCDA in 2016-2017.
Sheriff Vega entered law enforcement at the age of 19 as a part-time dispatcher, and worked in every position in the sheriff's office: dispatcher, jailer, deputy, and chief deputy before being elected sheriff in 2016. He was re-elected in the 2020 primary; however, he succumbed to COVID19 before assuming his second term of office.
This $2000 scholarship will be awarded to one serving Texas Chief Deputy, who desires to further their education
